I never quite understood why the idea of the fat that sits on the side of your waist is called "love handles". It drives me nuts because the name make it sound like a romantic name for being something good to have around your waist!

Love handles are located around the waistline. Excess fats that your body cannot use of stored there. Not only are they saggy & baggy, but are unattractive accumulations of excess fat.

Contrary to popular belief, one cannot just melt those fats away by just doing situps and crunches, anymore than a person lose their chubby cheeks by opening and closing their mouths.

During my long career as a fitness professional, desperate people have contacted me by the thousands, hoping to learn the secret of getting rid the love handles around them, fast and permanently.

The typical recommendation for getting rid of love handles is simple: cut down your food, do more cardiovascular exercises and do variations of situps which includes various side bending and rotating movements.

This recommendation does sound logical and easy to follow, unfortunately it gives nothing more than ineffectiveness. Let's delve into why this "expert approved" approach is so startlingly useless.

"Cut down your food, do more cardios" are only meant for those on a weight loss regime. This advice will lead to weight loss but not necessarily lead to fat loss. You see, losing weight can also mean losing lean muscle and water content in your body, and only a small amount of actual body fat.

In addition to doing situps to burn off the love handles, it might just turn around to build your oblique muscles and widen your waistline... which is exactly the opposite effect that we are aiming for!

What we need is a set of fat loss training that encourages the building of lean muscles while simultaneously melt fat at maximum rate. This is probably the only way to loose stubborn body fat forever... and love handles are perhaps the most stubborn fat of all!

So what is this set of fat loss training program that is so effective? Based on years of trial and error, I have developed a plan that works extremely well. Here it is:

  1. Perform intense sprinting - sprinting is the best cardio activity to burn your body fat away. Take a look at professional sprinters, one minute they are stationary, next minute they are sprinting away using every ounce of energy they have. By learning from them, you have now learned the way to ignite your metabolism and simultaneously shedding those love handles.
  2. Engage in a properly designed resistance training program. Resistance training plays a great importance in any fat loss regime. You must be very careful not to use high repetition approach only. A balance between high and low reps is needed to keep fat loss results at it's optimal level.
  3. Fluctuate your calories -- in order to lose body fat, you have to create a calorie deficit. Reducing your calories for long periods of time, and your metabolism will slow down. That is the last thing you want to do! To prevent this negative outcome, you must not stay in a calorie deficit any longer than five consecutive days. I suggest that you will only decrease your calories for three to five days and then "binge" for one or two days to replenish your glycogen storage and skyrocket your metabolism rate.

I hope you have noticed that each section of this program has a metabolism boosting effect. Do this and you will start losing stubborn body fat permanently.

Forget about side bending, forget about long cardiovascular aerobic workouts! In just five minutes of reading this, you have learned the key to getting rid of your love handles forever.
